2024-2025 SEASON PRODUCTION POSITIONS:

 

The Milburn Stone Theatre is currently accepting applications for the 2024/2025 Season. Below please find the Job Responsibilities for each of the Production Staff Positions that we hire on a contractual basis for each show. Pay varies for each position and show in our season. Please read the information on the application to find out further information about stipends offered.

 

DIRECTOR (Stipend: $650)

Open for the following productions: Ride The Cyclone, The Crucible, Beauty and the Beast, Hamlet, Anastasia

  • Responsible to the Artistic Director, Production Coordinator, Director, and Technical Director of Milburn Stone Theatre

  • Expected to attend and audit all auditions and call backs

  • Expected to be on time and prepared for all rehearsals

  • Responsible for running all blocking rehearsals, run-throughs, and attending any rehearsal requested by other production staff members

  • Expected to attend all tech week rehearsals

  • Expected to attend all scheduled production meetings

  • Responsible with keeping communication open between themselves and the Milburn Stone Theatre Staff and Production Staff

  • Responsible for creating and maintaining a rehearsal schedule in collaboration with the Music Director, Choreographer, and Stage Manager

 

 

MUSIC DIRECTOR (Stipend: $800)

Open for the following productions: Beauty and the Beast, Oklahoma, Anastasia, Once

  • Responsible to the Artistic Director and Director of Milburn Stone Theatre

  • Expected to attend and audit all auditions and call backs

  • Expected to be on time and prepared for all rehearsals

  • Responsible for running all music rehearsals, accompanying run-throughs, and attending any rehearsal when requested by other production staff members

  • Responsible for running tracks or playing in/conducting the pit for all tech week rehearsals and performances

  • Expected to attend all scheduled production meetings

  • Collaborates with the Chorographer to ensure that tracks used for rehearsals match the performance plan

  • Responsible for the assembly of an orchestra or pit band, in coordination with the Milburn Stone Theatre, within the budget provided. When the members are assembled, the Music Director will provide names and contact information to the Production Manager

  • Responsible to supply their own substitute if they are unable to accompany a rehearsal

 

 

CHOREOGRAPHER (Stipend: $500)

Open for the following productions: Ride The Cyclone, The Crucible, Beauty and the Beast, Hamlet, Oklahoma, Anastasia, Once

  • Responsible to the Artistic Director and Director of Milburn Stone Theatre

  • Asked to attend and audit all auditions, and is expected to attend all dance calls and callbacks

  • Expected to be on time and prepared for all rehearsals

  • Responsible for running all dance rehearsals, attending all run-throughs and any rehearsal when requested by other production staff members

  • Expected to attend all tech week rehearsals

  • Expected to attend all scheduled production meetings

  • Responsible to designate a Dance Captain from within the cast when deemed necessary. This decision must be made in coordination with the Director, Music Director, and Stage Manager

 

 

STAGE MANAGER (Stipend: $500-650)

Open for the following productions: Ride The Cyclone, The Crucible, Beauty and the Beast, Hamlet, Oklahoma, Anastasia, Once

  • Responsible to the Artistic Director and Director of Milburn Stone Theatre

  • Expected to run all auditions and call backs

  • Responsible for attending all rehearsals and assisting in rehearsal operation (ie: setting up the stage, cast attendance, creation of prompt book, recording director’s blocking, managing the cast and crew, calling breaks)

  • Responsible for creation of properties list in collaboration with the production staff, and continually updating the properties list through the rehearsal process

  • Responsible for maintaining the show page on Virtual Callboard, including but not limited to updating rehearsals, and filing timely rehearsal/performance reports

  • Responsible for running the entire show from the beginning of tech week to closing night, including calling all cues

  • Responsible to attend cueing, run cue to cue, and run the light board after cue to cue to the end of production

  • Responsible for securing the facility at close of each rehearsal and performance 

  • Responsible for all necessary paperwork

  • Expected to attend all scheduled production meetings

 

 

COSTUME DESIGNER (Stipend: $250 - $500)

Open for the following productions: Escape To Margaritaville, Ride The Cyclone, The Crucible, Beauty and the Beast, Hamlet, Oklahoma, Anastasia, Once

  • Responsible to the Artistic Director and Director of Milburn Stone Theatre

  • Expected to work within the scope of time, budget, and personnel available

  • Responsible for collaborating with the production staff in the creation of a design

  • Responsible for research, costume renderings, fittings, rental packages, final show pieces, construction, purchasing, adjustment, and/or pulling of costumes for the production

  • Required to attend all production meetings, and one run-through before the final production meeting

  • Required to lead costume strike within at most 72 hours of closing

 

 

PROPS MASTER (Stipend: $250 - $500)

Open for the following productions: Escape To Margaritaville, Ride The Cyclone, The Crucible, Beauty and the Beast, Hamlet, Oklahoma, Anastasia, Once

  • Responsible to the Artistic Director and Director of Milburn Stone Theatre

  • Expected to work within the scope of time, budget, and personnel available

  • Responsible for collaborating with the production staff in the creation of a design

  • Responsible for all hand and costume props included handheld magic needed for the production unless otherwise stated

  • Expected to work within the scope of time, budget, and personnel available for each production

  • Expected to first work with the existing inventory. Any rental or purchase of additional equipment must be made in writing to the Production Manager and approved by MST

  • All on-site construction or creation of prop elements must work in conjunction with the Technical Director 

  • Required to attend all production meetings, and one run-through before the final production meeting

  • Provide specified rehearsal props as noted in rehearsal reports or meeting notes

  • Required to strike props within at most 72 hours of closing

 

 

AUDIO ENGINEER (Stipend: $600-$750)

Open for the following productions: Escape To Margaritaville, The Crucible, Beauty and the Beast, Hamlet, Oklahoma, Anastasia, Once

  • Responsible to the Artistic Director and Director of Milburn Stone Theatre

  • Expected to work within the scope of time, budget, and personnel available

  • Expected to work with the existing audio equipment. Any request for the rental or purchase of additional equipment must be made in writing to the Production Manager, and approved by the MST Staff

  • Responsible for collaborating with the production staff in the creation of a design

  • Responsible for the successful execution of the audio design, including operating the sound board, creating the live mix of the show, and maintenance of the final design through the closing performance

  • Responsible for design, supervision, and plotting of sound effects

  • Responsible for supervising all sound equipment in the house and onstage used during the production

  • Required to attend all production meetings, and one run-through before the final production meeting

  • Required to lead audio strike and restore audio equipment within at most 72 hours of closing

 

 

LIGHTING DESIGNER (Stipend: $650)

Open for the following productions:  The Crucible, Beauty and the Beast, Hamlet, Oklahoma, Anastasia, Once

  • Responsible to the Artistic Director and Director of Milburn Stone Theatre

  • Expected to work within the scope of time, budget, and personnel available

  • Responsible for collaborating with the production staff in the creation of a design

  • Expected to work with the existing lighting equipment. Any request for the rental or purchase of additional equipment or supplies must be made in writing to the Production Manager, and approved by the MST Staff

  • Required to attend all production meetings, and one run-through before the final production meeting

  • Expected to attend all tech week rehearsals and may provide technical notes during designated time

  • Responsible for providing a full light plot to scale (no smaller than ¼” = 1’) showing type, color, and position for all necessary instruments

  • Responsible for providing associated paperwork

  • Responsible for being present for and supervising the focus of lighting equipment and the setting of all light cues

  • Responsible for having the lights in a workable condition by the end of cue to cue, and providing the Stage Manager and Technical Director with all necessary information for show maintenance

 

 

SET DESIGNER (Stipend: $650)

Open for the following productions: Ride The Cyclone, The Crucible, Beauty and the Beast, Hamlet, Oklahoma, Anastasia, Once

  • Responsible to the Artistic Director and Director of Milburn Stone Theatre

  • Expected to follow the Production Calendar, as set by the Production Manager in coordination with the Artistic Director

  • Expected to work within the scope of time, budget, and personnel available

  • Expected to work with the existing shop and paint tools. Any rental or purchase of additional equipment must be made in writing to the Production Manager and approved by MST

  • Expected to work with the Technical Director to set dates to come in and answer any questions or concerns and assist with set build and completion. The designer must set meetings ahead of time and must make at least one visit per week leading up to tech week, these visits will begin the week prior to set build commencing.

  • Responsible for providing all necessary information for the successful completion of the design. This may include ground plan, section, paint elevations and scale set model (physical or digital). If working drawings are required by the Technical Director, the Scenic Designer will supply those drawings as well

  • Complete all work on the set one week prior to opening. Touch ups may be done during tech week and the weeks in between performances
