SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE: THE PLAY

SHOW DATES: JANUARY 29, 30, 31

SHOW TIMES: FRIDAY AND SATURDAY EVENING PERFORMANCES AT 7:30 PM, SATURDAY AND SUNDAY MATINEES AT 2 PM

$24 Adults | $22 Seniors/Military | $20 Students

ADAPTED FOR THE STAGE BY LEE HALL
MUSIC BY PADDY CUNNEEN

Originally produced on the West End by Disney Theatrical Group & Sonia Friedman Productions, directed by Declan Donnellan, and designed by Nick Ormerod

Based on the beloved Academy Award-winning film, Shakespeare in Love is an enchanting, hilarious, and irresistibly romantic stage play that transports audiences to the bustling, bawdy world of Elizabethan London — where the greatest love story ever written was itself born from the greatest love story never told. Young Will Shakespeare is in crisis. The deadline for his new play is fast approaching, the theater company is counting on him, and his quill has run dry. Paralyzed by writer's block and desperately in need of inspiration, Will finds himself adrift — until a chance encounter changes everything. Viola, a feisty, brilliant, and beautiful young woman with a passion for the theater that rivals Will's own, will stop at nothing — including disguising herself as a man to defy the laws of the day — to appear on stage in his next production.

As their love blossoms against a backdrop of mistaken identity, ruthless scheming, and gloriously chaotic backstage theatrics, Will discovers the muse he never knew he was looking for. From their passionate and forbidden romance emerges the words, the characters, and the heart of his greatest masterpiece — Romeo and Juliet.

Witty, warm, and wonderfully theatrical, Shakespeare in Love is a celebration of the power of love, the magic of storytelling, and the timeless belief that the show must always go on.

Please be advised: Shakespeare in Love contains themes of romance, mistaken identity, and political intrigue, as well as depictions of romantic relationships and implied intimacy. The production also includes mild language and brief moments of violence. Recommended for ages 13 and up; parental discretion is advised.

In her crumbling mansion on Sunset Boulevard, faded silent-screen goddess Norma Desmond lives trapped in a fantasy world of former glory — her glamour intact only in her own mind, having been discarded by Hollywood with the advent of "talkies." When impoverished screenwriter Joe Gillis stumbles into her reclusive domain while fleeing debt collectors, he is persuaded to work on her "masterpiece" — a script she believes will return her to the big screen. Seduced by Norma and her luxurious lifestyle, Joe finds himself drawn into a passionate, volatile, and claustrophobic existence, until his love for another woman compels him to break free — with tragic and unforeseen consequences.

Andrew Lloyd Webber's Tony Award-winning masterwork of dreams and desire in the land called Hollywood features the lush, swelling standards "With One Look," "As If We Never Said Goodbye," and "Perfect Year.”

Please be advised: Sunset Boulevard contains themes of obsession, psychological manipulation, and mental illness, as well as depictions of suicide, self-harm, and murder. The production also includes sexual relationships, implied intimacy, and alcohol use. Recommended for ages 13 and up. Parental discretion is advised.
